Wardrobe Film complete!!!

Hi all,

Ron Thompson here, reporting Gerilja's latest maneuvers in Pen's stead. Production on the 'Untitled Wardrobe Film' is complete, and the rushes look fantastic!

The film was shot 'by the good graces', of many kind folks, who helped us realise the project in spite of an extremely demanding schedule.

Special thanks to Thorolf, Willy and Gareth who opened up their home to all 15 members of cast and crew for 18 hours... heroes the lot of you! We would also like to thank Steens Hotel for the use of their magnficent balconies and view. Last but not least, a certain Howie Grutle was kind enough to give us the run of his joint, again. Rarely have I met such a long suffering good sport! Thanks to you all!

As it was my personal producing debut, I would also like to thank all of the cast and crew for their herculean efforts. I am already proud to have my name associated with this film, and it ain't even cut yet!

In other news - the Gerilja commercial market..., T and H are, as we speak, on the cusp of completion of the Sonans marathon, and it's looking pretty dern decent if I do say so meself. Big shout out to our crew: Claudia, Ole H, Philipa Birthe and Eric. Nice one!
The gig, I will add is brought forth into the world through tyhe collaborative necromancy of Beeliner, Trondheim Studio and of course the heroes of our story G-E-R-I-L-J-A, hey-ho let's go!

Gerilja updates

Hello again fans!
A lot of stuff has happend since the last post and behalf of all the soldiars in Gerilja Film, I appologize for this delayed posting...anyway.
We have now concluded the the production period for a commercial- and infomercial project where the employer is the private gymnasium Sonans. The releas dates for the commercials are not decided yet, but its gonna be sometime in january in both the cinema and local television. The commercials are shot in HDV.

The third short in our short series, now dubbed "6", is to be shot between the 11th and the 13th. This is a story about an unfortunate vacumcleener salesman, who gets suckered into a rather compromizing situation when he finds himself cornered in the bedroom by a "customers" scarey husband...Of cause he hides in the wardrobe.

I'll post some screenshots soon, but right now I'm in a pub, badly in need of on more beer.

Oroboros

The short project continues. Today we finished the Oroboros shoot and that well within our time limit and budget. Great work folks!!!! And a special thanks to the actress, Karoline Skuseth, for a marvelous interpetation of Ørjans script and Tarjeis instructions.
At any rate, the name "Oroboros" stems from the ancient symbol of the serpent that bites its own tale. Like this...
And this film is about how people often do the same. OROBOROS is an emotional and physical loop between apathy and and action, courage and distrust.

Project Updates

We have now sucsessfully shot the first short in "The Short Project", the tragic comic "mini" epic MOTLYD. We shot it over two days, one with mostly exterior shots and one with interior. The exteriors turned out to be quite a challange, with 5 unpaid actors, 3 degrees and heavy rain. But it worked and we pinned the shots! Great work guys, both cast and crew! And a special thanks to Siv and Brynjulv who came and did great work, but had to leave so soon. You'll be duely credited.

Next runner up is Ørjan Setvik's short about a young man with agoraphobia. It's featuring Tarjei Lyssand as a first time director and is to be shot during the last weekend of november.

Also, lately we have been working on some projects for Aker Kverner Subsea. This has been a challange due to short deadlines, but we've finished two sucsessfully and are doing the last one next week.

More commercial work seem to be coming our way theese days.

NB! We are probably going to need some actors in the near future for both commercial and fiction work, so if you're interested you should keep on reading this blog.

Short Project

Gerilja Film has entered into a collaboration with the newly started production company Estenopo. We aim to produce five or six short and simple shorts by the end of 2006. The projects purpose is to fine tune our script and directing skills and apply professional methodology to our project development. Also, its about giving a hand to Estenopo who are just starting out with a lot of good ideas, but not that much project realization "power".

We aim to shoot the first short by the first week in november. The short is called "Motlyd" and its about a man who struggles with a strange form of tinitus (øresus...).

It seems to me that a lot of the documentary projects that get funding nowadays is about either some social consience theme (war, hunger, AIDS, troubled youth), you know what I mean, or some form of oddity. You know; cute story about love and friedship amongst people with Downs Syndrome, cute story about musicians with Downs Syndrome, cute story about old people from rural parts of our beautifull country who, in spite of where they come from, still manages to have a positive outlook on life and the future. Oddities.

Where’s the stories about regular people? Where’s the stories about youth with a positive attitude, hopes for the future and an OK CV? Perhaps they even own a laptop mac?
I just feel like its time to tell a story about something from the mainstream. What’s your friend Christian’s story. He works as a web designer, has a girlfriend and a hobby, has no money worries. Where does he get his energy, his mojo? What’s his goal?
That’s what I want to know.

Gerilja Film has left the house AGAIN!! Due to misunderstandings and bad communication we have had to move office again. Gerilja's current headquaters are now located in Jonas Reins gate 9. If you know me, Håvard, im sure that you recognize that adress. Yes, it's my house...
This is just an intermediate solution. If anyone knows of a vacant office space, please let me know: havard@geriljafilm.com. I am never at home and never at work.

And this is not what i feel like doing with either the old office, nor the new one...

Im taking this opportunity to send my regards to Åsta Lindemann, our sister in arms, who's also looking for a roof over her head and a place to access the web "of opportunity".

Anyway, Bjørn and myself are going to Oslo next week to have a meeting with Norsk Filmfond. Peter Bøe who is a shortfilm consultant, will give us some valuble insights into the midset of those who work at the KING of norwegian film funding institutions. Hopefully, I'll be able to set up additional meetings with other interesting people when we're there as well. Gerilja Film is still alive and kickin!!

Here is a short project update:

Shorts:
Lately, we have made two shorts and we want to thank everyone involved for their respective participation.
The first short we did with the swedish director Michael Axelsson and his script about a young womans subtle revenge on a former lover. The women was played by the artist Nathalie Nordnes.

The secound short was written by a norwegian/canadian named Paul Dragebo, and directed by Tom Rosson. The short is about a young man contemplating his life and the importance of swedish furniture. The films star is Ivar, convincingly portrayed by George C. Francis.

WT International Filmfestival will house the premiere for both shorts.

Due to unforseen problems, the project Brukne Vinger is still in pre-production. "Its only pre-production, but we think we like it".

Documentaries:
The teaser for Orbo & The Longshots - The Tennessee Sessions is no available, but only if you buy the CD Genuine Handmade Rock'n'Roll. See www.geriljafilm.com for more project info.
If you buy the CD, you also get the music videos we made for the band; Dead Man Walking and My Widow.

And last, but not least, we are entering pre-production on a very exiting new documentary project. This project will be a collaboration between an established filmmaker from Switzerland, a graduate Kaospilot and Gerilja Film. More information will be available soon, so be sure to check back in.

Audery Horne Gig

Gerilja Film filmed the Bergen based band Audery Horne's concert at NHH this past thuesday. It was a blast! Audery Horne playes early 90's influenced "new metal", and they where awarded with the norwegian award "Spelemannsprisen" for their album. A great album and a great band!

We are looking foreward to a continued collaboration with Audery and wish them all the best on their quest for greatness;)

Gerilja Film has Left the Building

A few articles of news today, most interestingly, perhaps, that Gerilja Film will be moving!

Gerilja Film to Relocate
Gerilja Film will be moving approximately 5 meters this following week.
The slowly yet steadily growing company is moving into larger offices adjoining the offices of Piraya Film (indeed, Gerilja Film will actually be subletting from them), cementing a new and hopefully prosperous relationship between the two companies. wherein stepping on each others' toes will not be an issue, considering Piraya's penchant for feature docus, and Gerilja wanting mainly to work in fiction. Although the company is moving into another building, it is actually right next to the current building, with only a few meters of concrete and a bathroom to separate them. Pretty ironic, in our opinion.

"Something's going down" nearing completion
The long-awaited music video "Something's going down" made for hip-hop project Bombthreat, is nearing completion, and though some work still remains on both the producing end and editing end, the director, tom rosson, and his crew are highly pleased with the current edit. Gerilja Film chose to freeze production in 2005 due to financial issues, and though the situation has yet to be resolved, a decision to continue work on the project was made in late 2005, although the finished video might be increasingly withheld until a satisfactory conclusion to the situation is made.

ORBO-project enters post-production phase, bears fruits
Entering post-production, Gerilja Film's ORBO-project will actually bear a few of its fruits already. On March 18th the first of two music videos from the upcoming ORBO & the Longshots album is released, this one with footage from the recording session in legendary Sun Studio, Memphis, Tennessee. The footage is mainly from the actual film, and expect to see the watchful eyes of Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis &c. overseeing the process.
Most of the material for the actual film (about or greater than 100 hrs) has been reviewed, and the production group are mightily pleased with what they see.

Gerilja Film to produce concert video for Claudia Scott, further collaboration in talks
Gerilja Film is producing a concert video for and with Claudia Scott. Details on the project, which is by no means extensice, will appear soon. A satisfactory collaboration might result in further projects with Claudia Scott's name attached to it. Watch out for more information soon.

as you may have noticed, the gerilja film webiste has been down for a few days. our webmeister (i.e. me) was unaware of this because i have been quite ill since wednesday, and subsequently did not go online or have any particular communication with any body until yesterday.

it seems that our site has been temporarily deavctivated on account of a misunderstanding, but we have taken steps to ensure it should be back up as soon as possible, though we are informed that it may take up to five days, for some reason. (as you may notice, this also affects other gerilja film-related web pages that have their files, such as images, hosted by the gerilja film domain, which explains why there is no graphics showing on this page).

the really big problem for us, however, is that our email service provider is the same as our domain, and thusly we are not receiving emails either. hopefully this crappy situation will be out of the world in no time, and we can have all the exicting tales from our boys on the orbo-crew about their journey (with pictures) up in no time.

"Olsen and Kambo"

Two of the members from The Kambo Trio, Olsen and Kambo, will have a guest apperance where they give us a taste of the trio's material.
We are verry thankfull for this support!

This is a short description of the Kambo Trio (in norwegian...):

Kambo Trio er Ragnhild Kambo, Endre Olsen og Daniel Haggis.
Kambo trio gir deg iøyrefallande melodiar og trestemte harmoniar. Med inspirasjon særskildt frå country, folk og pop leverer dei ei eigen stemningsfull pakke frå scena. Lite heavy metal, mykje velklang! Trioen er for tida splitta mellom Bergen og Liverpool, men samlar krefter i England til neste år, for å bli folkstjerner.

"....After a succesful 2005, ORBO & The Longshots are now about to go back to the US to record their next album. Gerilja Film will come along on this journey where one of the stops are legendary SUN STUDIO in Memphis, Tn. Gerilja Film wants to make a roadmovie documentary during ORBO & The Longshots' recording sessions.

ORBO & The Longshots work under the slogan "Genuine Handmade Rock'n'Roll From Norway" and on this album the bands' skills and craftmanship will be put to a test. The album will be recorded live "in sessions" (everyone plays at the same time, not track by track) without using these "helpful" and cheatful tools as AUTO TUNE, drum machines etc.

The documentary will also investigate the music buisness' advantages and disadvantages and show us where the difference lies between a good-old Norwegian rock'n'roll band and the pop music babes where music is mass produced by computers just to be used in videos or in playback-shows on tv...

Gerilja Film is a filmproduction company run by idealistic souls from Bergen. Gerilja Film is the exact opposite of those big multimillion corporations. They have applied for sponsorship and financial aid to be able to make this documentary that hopefully will fill the viewers in on what may be concidered the toughest and most cynical buisness in the world. fundraising concert

orbo & the longshots will be hosting a fundraiser gig at kamelon in bergen on january 19th. the money roll will go towards the gerilja film-made "rockumentary" featuring orbo and the band.

because financing an endeavour such as this is extremely hard, especially considering the limited time frame this project has, gerilja film humbly ask all friends and associates to call everyone they know and come to the show. it will be worth the cover!

not to point fingers, but gerilja film have usually had an extremely poor turnout of friends at our fundraisers (with some honorable exceptions), and ridiculously, we've also had complaints from friends because they had to pay to get into the fundraiser gig(!!!).
so we're wondering where the hell our friends are, and why they need bad excuses when they can help some enterprising and hard-working comrades out, and feel good about themselves afterwards. well, i'll tell you where they are: at KAMELON JANUARY 19th! prove me right, i double-dare you!

on the road again

gerilja film is pleased to announce our latest, exciting project, a "rockumentary" featuring americana rock band orbo & the longshots. we have already entered pre-production, and our crew will be following the band to nashville and memphis where they are to record their next album, primarily at compass sound studio in nashville, but also parts at legendary sun studio in memphis, by the end of january. more information on this project will be released soon, and we'll give our best to the king.

Gerilja Film in-house vixen karoline (pictured left in a humorous wig that cost us no end of grief - don't ask. or if you do, make sure you ask håvard.) will be leaving us in january to go study nazi occult theory, or something like that, for six months. and this just as we were going to offer her a permanent position. oh well, we'll have to give it to someone else. ;-)
we'll miss you, babe, i know i won't be as confident directing without you at my side.

then it is over, the festival, that is, and what a great festival it was. we had the honour of rounding off the whole thing with our "docuportrait" of arne mæland and the sculpture symposium in os. it went down pretty well, with some technical difficulties, and in the last minute, of course. but hey, that's us ;-)

and now for some rest, even though the wicked usually don't get that...
